To glisten; The quality of shining with a bright reflected light; glitter, glint, gleam, shine.

STOP PRESS............

I am absolutely delighted to announce that Blanche Glisten will be joining Taraco Stud later on in 2008! A HUGE thank you to Jan Hazeleger and family for considering my request to buy Glisten! Despite not being for sale, Jan and family were looking to cut back slightly in order to retain some homebred stock so I was very lucky to persuade them to let Glisten come back to England! She is due to foal this April and will be staying in Holland until her foal is weaned. A big thank you to Jan for all the photos and for putting up with my excited emails - I am sure that the next 6 months or so will go very slowly!

Glisten lives up to her name in everyway and positively sparkles with life - a wonderful foundation section A mare. I had always been a huge fan of Barry Shepherd's Blanche Glimmer (and her sons and daughters!) and had been on the look out for a mare of similar breeding and calibre since buying my first section A foundation mares in 2003. It has been a long search but is hopefully worth the wait and I am thrilled to announce that in 2008 Blanche Glisten will be joining Taraco from Holland. I cannot thank Jan Hazeleger and all at Centannial Stud for giving me the opportunity to bring this lovely mare back to England. Like my other foundation mares, Glisten is a real welsh mountain pony, with the looks, action and temperament you would expect from this breeding. She has been a big prize winner and producer in Holland and achieved the 'Ster' (star) accolade when shown. Glisten is out of the superb mare Springbourne Gemma a multiple champion show mare by the renowned stock-getter Penual Mark and as such is a maternal half sister to Barry Shepherd's Blanche Glimmer. Glisten's sire, Breachwood Marwyn, needs little introduction - he was Supreme Champion Royal Welsh Show 1989 and won many championships including Northleach 1986, Supreme Champion Shropshire and West Midland Show 1987, Champion Royal Show 1987.He was little used at stud but produced the fantastic colt Springbourne Boyblue who was exported to Canada where he has been incredibly successful. Glisten has been an outstanding broodmare in Holland producing the fantastic young stallion Ysselvliedt's Golden Boy by Blackhill Picalo. She is also dam to the fantastic young gelding Ysselvliedt's Glamour Boy who in his first under saddle season won five firsts, two championships and qualified for RIHS and HOYS. Her first foal at Taraco Stud is the delightful bay filly Taraco Ghazaleh (by Friars Superman) and she is hopefully safely in foal to Friars Golden Mark for 2010.
